Rosemount woman arrested on suspicion of medication DWI

Dakota County prosecutors say that a Rosemount woman was arrested at her home for driving while impaired June 21. Authorities say that police confronted the woman as she stood outside her home, holding her three-year-old child. Law enforcement apparently was responding to a report of an alleged erratic driver, who allegedly drove up onto a curb near County Road 42 and Diamond Path.

Minnesota Supreme Court rules Intoxilyzer results reliable for court

The Minnesota Supreme Court handed down its ruling in the long-awaited Intoxilyzer 5000EN challenge Wednesday. The state’s highest court upheld the lower court’s ruling that the Intoxilyzer machine’s results are accurate enough to be used in Minnesota DWI cases.

Minnesota trooper arrests man without pants for DWI in Richfield

An out-of-state driver was pulled over for allegedly speeding near 66th street on Interstate 35W May 24. A Minnesota state trooper says that the man may have committed other minor traffic violations before the trooper decided to make the traffic stop around 2:30 in the morning. Like many traffic stops, the trooper claims to have noticed indicia of intoxication during the stop, and ultimately the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Burnsville woman sentenced to over 4 years in felony DWI case

A Burnsville woman who pled guilty to felony DWI test refusal and drug possession charges has been sentenced to just over four years in prison after pleading guilty to two of three charged felonies. One count of felony DWI was dismissed. In March, this blog discussed the case against the woman who was accused of drugged driving after a December 2010 traffic stop.

Woman Sentenced for Criminal Vehicular Homicide (CVO or CVH) for Texting Causing Death

Last week, for a Waseca County Criminal Vehicular Homicide ((CVO or CVH) woman was sentenced to 480 hours of community service and ten years of probation. She was charged with CVH because she caused the death of a driver of another vehicle while texting and speeding. She also also had several previous traffic citiatons for speeding and other offenses, and got another speeding ticket while this case was pending.

One car–Two people charged with Minnesota DWI after speeding stop

A Minnesota State Patrol Trooper accuses two people of driving while impaired-each of the accused was in the same car, during the same alleged pursuit. The trooper claims that while patrolling Interstate 35 near Duluth late last month, a car passed the patrol car traveling 92 miles per hour.
