On Valentine’s Day 2014, two 19-year-old junior hockey players from Minnesota allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl in a hotel room following one of their games.

St. Cloud Criminal Law Attorney Needed for Man Facing 18 Year Felony Sentence

Corey Becker pleaded guilty to attempted first–degree murder and to one count of kidnapping. He broke into a man’s house in St. Cloud. He then beat him and choked the victim. Becker had never been inside the man’s home before. Becker also did not know the victim. Becker stated that he did not remember the incident because he was drunk. He broke in around 3:30 a.m. and went into the man’s bedroom. He grabbed him by the throat and said, “you are the devil, and you need to die.” The man almost passed out from being choked. But was able to escape from his bathroom window. Becker also demanded sex from the man. The victim went to his neighbor’s house and was nude and badly beaten. Becker was found at another residence in the neighborhood. He said he did not know anything about the incident. The prosecutor is asking for an 18-year prison sentence. Becker’s sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2015.

False allegations often fueled by desire for sympathy

In early October, actress Amanda Bynes repeatedly tweeted that her father abused her physically, sexually and verbally. According to CBS News, the young woman posted that living with her father was a total nightmare and that her mother protected him by not calling law enforcement. Ms. Bynes went on to say she was considering hiring an attorney and getting a restraining order. Shortly afterward, she retracted all her comments, stating that a microchip in her brain caused her to write those things. Her parents are trying to get her help at a mental health facility.

Football Season Cancelled After Players Accused of Sexually Assaulting–Their Own Teammates

Seven juveniles have been arrested for sexually hazing football teammates who were freshmen football players. The accused players harassed and intimidated four younger players over a ten day period. They turned the lights off and sexually harassed the younger students. There is at least one case of actual penetration. Three players are accused of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, and conspiracy. The Sayreville War Memorial High School have now cancelled the rest of its football season. The students charged are between 15 and 17 years old. They allegedly held students against their will and improperly touched them.

HIV: Fail to inform your partner and face criminal charges

An Iowa man engaged in consensual sex with another man, and he was arrested for it. According to ProPublica, the man’s crime was that he did not disclose to his partner that he was HIV positive. Law enforcement conducted a blood test and found medication in his home confirming their suspicion, and the now-39-year-old was sentenced to 25 years in prison. His attorneys petitioned the court, noting that the man’s partner did not contract the disease due to preventative measures, and a judge lessened the sentence to five years’ probation. However, the man is now a registered sex offender and cannot be left alone with children younger than 14.

Campus judiciaries for students accused of sexual assault are often unjust

A University of North Dakota student faced sexual assault allegations after a January 2010 incident. According to a U.S. News report, law enforcement refused to bring charges against the young man and instead charged the person’s accuser with filing a false report. Despite the findings of the law enforcement’s investigation, the school’s tribunal suspended the young man and handed down a three-year ban from the campus. The student repeatedly requested that the university review its decision, which it finally did after a year and a half and determined that their ruling was unsubstantiated.

Austin High School Teacher Charged with Child Molestation or Statutory Rape, May Be Pregnant with Victim’s Child

Mary Gilles a high school teacher in Austin, Minnesota was having a sexual relationship with her 17 year old student. She was just charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct or child molestation. She is currently at the Mower County jail. Her bail is currently set at $60,000. She also may be pregnant with the student’s baby. Police found e-mails involving discussions about a possible pregnancy. Gilles was a math teacher at catholic Pacelli High School.

Child Porn Conviction for Woman Attempting to Frame Husband

Meri Woods was convicted of downloading child pornography ("child Porn") in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. She tried to frame her husband by downloading the photographs of child porn. She downloaded 40 pictures of child porn on the home computer and then turned it into the police.
